About
Vision
Mana Waitaha.
Mission
Our mission comes from the words of the Ngāi Tūāhuriri tōhunga Waruwarutu in the 19th century.
“E hoa, ma, e kā uri whakatipu i muri nei. Atawhaitia kā oraka mai o ētahi kaika, whakaputa mai ana kia koutou, koi peenei kia a koutou; ahakoa pākehatia koutou, kia rakatira e whakahaere maa koutou”
“To you my friends and my descendants who follow after me. Always offer kindness and hospitality to those who come to you deprived of their homes, lest this may happen to you. And although you may become as the Pākehā, always let your standard of conduct be as a rangatira.”
Purpose
To deliver services that empower whānau and foster well being for all Māori living within the Waitaha rohe.
Who are we?
Mana Waitaha Charitable Trust is a Māori organisation that is committed to advancing whānau in the Waitaha/ Canterbury region. Our Trust utilises the networks and skills of our Trustees and willing helpers to promote, empower and advance Māori whānau. We follow the mission of our ancestor and tōhunga Waruwarutu based on aroha ki te tangata - love towards others.
